Digital chart specialist Chartworld\u2019s recent ECDIS for free initiative is paying off handsomely with the company\u2019s CEO describing uptake as \u201ctremendous\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe want to provide our services and apply our expertise to the entire range of digital navigation requirements for any shipping company and change the focus of looking at the component parts separately,\u201d Schootbrugge says, adding that ECDIS pricing was getting in the way of that ideal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWhile many people understand what ECDIS is, it was clear that they hadn\u2019t understood the cost of running and owning ECDIS. We wanted to show the hardware is probably the smallest part of the overall cost and remove it from the comparison equation,\u201d Schootbrugge explains.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Chartworld clients can now subscribe to our \u2018all-in\u2019 service whereby they get all the hardware, software and data that they require.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe ensure compatibility, compliance and performance,\u201d Schootbrugge stresses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
